PhilWeb Profits Up 78% in 1st Half
PhilWeb Corp. tallied an unaudited net income of P149.6 million for the first half of 2008, up from 78% from P84.2 million during the same period last year.
The growth improvement was attributed to the PAGCOR e–games café systems as well as strong gains from PhilWeb's investment in ISM Communications Corp.
Revenues grew 34% from last year to a total of P171.4 million. The company credited the opening of 21 new PAGCOR e–Games cafes starting in December of 2007. The total number of cafes around the country is now 97.
The average bet volume is also increasing from P80 million last year to P150 million in 2008. Around the Philippines, the number of patrons of the PAGCOR e–Games cafes has grown from 25,000 daily to 45,000.
PhilWeb's investments in ISM Communications returned P49.6 million for the period, chiefly from the positive results delivered by ISM's investments in Eastern Telecommunications Philippines.
